For Stages Indoor Cycling bikes equipped with a Stages Power meter, it is possible to record your power data directly into the fitness app of your choice. Most of these same apps can be paired to a heart rate strap as well, but please note compatibility will vary based on the app you are using, as many may require a Bluetooth 4.0-enabled strap (while the console itself can connect with either ANT+ or Bluetooth compatible straps).
The Stages Power meter broadcasts your data via two unique wireless connections, Bluetooth 4.0 and ANT+. For each app, please note whether it requires Bluetooth 4.0 or ANT+, as many devices may need a plug in adapter to connect with ANT+. For Bluetooth 4.0 compatible apps, the power meter can be connected directly without the use of any adapters.
For a list of mobile devices with built in ANT+ capabilities, please use the ANT+ Directory found here and select "Mobile Phones/Devices" from the Categories menu. These devices can use ANT+ to pair to a Stages Power meter as well as an existing ANT+ compatible HR strap without the need for any adapters.
Note: In a group environment with many active sensors, it may be difficult to pair to the correct bike in the first attempt due to competing Bluetooth signals. It may be advisable to bring a USB drive as a back up means to record data in case the connection with the correct power meter is not obtained before the start of your workout.
Use in trainer mode for indoor cycling classes. Gives the option to "spoof" location, as it does provide GPS data. App can connect to the power meter and an ANT+ heart rate strap.
Hit Menu > ANT+ Settings > ANT+ Devices > Power Sensor > Pair > Pick power meter based on ID # that matches the bike > Name Bike > Save. Repeat steps 1-3 and select Heart Rate Sensor to add a HR strap.
Tip: Select "Proximity" > Check Enable > Set and set it to a short distance to eliminate app from finding all power meters in the room
